My original goal for myself was to graduate from Oxford and become a doctor but I found that the enlightment offered me a stable and implorative of career in political Philosophy. This change has been more beneficial to society then I 1st realized. Toleration and social contract

Having lived through the English Civil War I can attest that poor and unjust government will always result in revolution and resistance. Humans are endowed with certain inalienable rights that are natural in nature and must be acknowledged by the government- the social contract.

I don't always write theories but when I do they are influential. It's nice to see that my 2 treaties of government is still popular and that my thoughts concerning education have benefited children around the world and I appreciate that religious toleration has become normal.

Thomas Hobbes is correct that organizer government is important and that the peace and order that results from stable rule is preferable to no government, but I disagree that the absence of government is anarchy and savagery. Humans are naturally good and will find order always.

The current education system places too much value on Worthless subjects such as poetry or Music or classical History studies. Reform is needed now and we must advance the subjects of science, arithmetic, and psychology.

Tyranny in any society is not tolerated and will often be met with With resistance or violence. SA ruler or government becomes oppressive then the people reserve the right to overthrow them and establish a new government. The social contract Holds true

The government cannot drive its power from divine right. The government and its rulers derive their power from the privileges that the people equip them with. Humans are Naturally good And as such are willing to cede some of their natural freedoms for protection of their rights

Coursing religious uniformity leads to far more social disorder than allowing diversity. The state must stay out of religious affairs and tolerate all beliefs. Religion is a personal choice.

Religious toleration is very important. Earthly Judges such as humans cannot dependably evaluate the truth claims of competing religious standpoints.
Even if they could, enforcing a single true religion would not work because you cannot be compelled into belief through violence.

Thomas Jefferson is a great American and political philosopher. The separation of church and state is very important and helps to ensure that benevolence of government is maintained.

Structure and order are Important to the stability of government. If a government fails to meet the needs of the people, then revolt is justified.

The US declaration of independence and the constitution are commendable examples of excellent foundation of government. Built upon all of the best enlightenment ideals, some of which being my own, it has become the model of which other nations seek to mimic.

All knowledge is derived from sensation and reflection. Infants have had little time to experience and interact with their environment and are, as such, less knowing than an adult, which has had decades to experience and reflect and learn. Learning cannot happen in isolation.

Life, liberty, and the right to own property. These rights are unalienable and as such must not be Infringed upon. If they are, then the people have the right to revolt.

Constitutions are the foundation of any nation and the legal documents that give legitimacy to the government. They reflect the values of the people who live under them and serve to protect them and their rights. As a man who's theories have influence on them, I would know.

I would like to comment on the actions of king George the third and justify the revolt of the American colonists. The government serves the people and operates to meet their needs and will. If the government fails to do so, then the people have the right to revolt.

As an enlightenment philosopher, I would like to commend and praise Montesquieu and Rousseau for furthering the effort of just and righteous government with their political philosophy. Separation of powers and the general will social contract are the basis of modern democracy.
