When reporting on animals, there are always new horrors to discover. Today's is mouse and rat factory farming, which is done to feed pet snakes and zoo snakes. And it's probably way, way bigger (and worse) than you'd think.

The ‘Save Our Bacon Act’ would take away states’ rights to ensure that farm animals are treated humanely. The bill would also hurt the thousands of small farmers that have already made financial investments to comply with these laws. We must protect our farmers and the animals they raise, and keep this poison pill out of the Senate Farm Bill.

In my 25+ years advocating for better treatment of farm animals, I’ve never seen so many thought leaders and elected officials from both right and left unite to defeat an anti-animal bill. Some things are bigger than political tribalism, and basic decency toward animals is one of them. Here's a small sample of those speaking out against including SOB in the farm bill. 🧵

Red = "unacceptable"

Yet, despite 75-98% saying that the practices are unacceptable, over 90% of people buy #meat anyway. Why do you think this is? 🤔

@TheGhouls777, a local Detroit horror punk band, have been one of my favorite bands for 25 years. They just put out a song inspired by my advocacy for animals called Tear Off A Leg. 🚫🍗🚫

Pretty great to have a such a strong message presented in a song that is uptempo and catchy rather than slow and somber like much of the pro-animal music out there. 🤘🏼

Cheers to this song (and video) reaching people who wouldn’t normally be reached in a way that this important content wouldn’t normally be presented. 🙏🏼
