@warwickmansell What is Reform-controlled @reformparty_uk Suffolk County Council @suffolkcc doing to fulfil its statutory responsibility for young people of Felixstowe?
@warwickmansell Indeed. Section 15ZA (Duty in respect of education and training for persons over compulsory school age: England) EA 1996 requires the LA to “secure that enough suitable education and training is provided to meet the reasonable needs” of 16 to 19-year-olds “in their area”
"People expected something different from the Labour government,+what we’ve got is a continuation of Tory policy on academisation,” states NASUWT's Matt Wrack, re union members' surprise at Lab white paper all-academy move. https://t.co/JtJe26cm1g
Would be good to see a parent's perspective within articles such as this. Could be argued that the way schools have now been set up, as the academies policy can make decision-making more remote from communities, contributes to tensions - I certainly see that, in cases on ground.
It’s been a privilege to serve #GrovePark as your councillor over the last 4 years.
I’m not going anywhere, but a few thoughts after a couple of days of reflection and (mostly) sleep.
The old @ZackPolanski
Meanwhile Labour:
✅ 240k London kids lifted out of poverty
✅ Minimum wage raised twice
✅ Hundreds of free breakfast clubs
✅ Over 100m free school meals delivered
✅ 2.7m renters protected
Slogans vs substance
Good summary in this article in the Times here. The Green Party was never just about the environment but it's become something altogether darker these days.
I spoke with @rosiemparry recently about her Deptford journey, housing, green spaces, and local hidden gems that deserve more attention.

@JamesCleverly Interesting. In the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill there are three different definitions of when a person is no longer a child. Until a Government has the foresight to sort it out, let's rejoice with this glorious muddle.
The Green Party is entirely ridiculous, and in no area is it more absurd than foreign and defence policy. This is really embarrassing - they should stop talking about this stuff and focus on their comfort zones like hypnotising boobs and legalising crack.
@AndyBurnhamGM@Dominic2306 Andy - you underestimate what you and your team achieved in the year you led the Opposition on education. My favourite is preserving the Education Child Matters legislation to be used hopefully by a future Labour Government, but there are lots of other achievements.
Rachel Hau-Yu Tam has also been a hopeless councillor for Evelyn ward. Hasn’t done a single surgery and barely any casework in two years. Standing in #Deptford ward because she can’t face the voters in her own ward. Not fit to be a councillor in Lewisham or anywhere…
