I want to thank Life Lion, Hershey Medical Center, and everyone in the medical field who steps into high-stress situations to help others.
EMS and every person providing that care made a difference in my life.
What I saw as simply my recovery, others saw as a reason to keep going.
Never underestimate the power of your story. What you've overcome might be exactly what someone else needs to hear.
Never in a million years did I think my recovery story would land me in @MensFitnessX Magazine.
When that article came out in 2011, the response blew me away. People from all over the country reached out to tell me how much my journey inspired them.
The pain isn't the end of your story. It's an opportunity to learn, grow, and turn adversity into fuel for what's next.
Sometimes your greatest purpose is found in the very thing you wish never happened.
@EdMylett absolutely nailed this one.
Finding purpose in pain has been the story of my life. I've learned that our greatest setbacks often teach us the most valuable lessons.
My one rule was simple: We start together, and we finish together. Nobody gets left behind.
Your next chapter may look nothing like your last, and that's okay.
I went from wondering if I'd ever walk again to demonstrating @SpartanRace obstacles in Times Square on @GMA.
I thought my days as an athlete were over, but obstacle racing gave me a new way to challenge myself without comparing who I was to who I'd become.
But here's what I've learned through my own journey: passion and motivation can only take you so far. At the end of the day, commitment is what keeps you moving forward.
I agree with @jimkwik here. Purpose isn't something you simply stumble upon. It grows from the things you're passionate about.
When you pursue something you truly care about, you're more likely to find meaning in what you do.
Waiting for the perfect plan kept me stuck.
My life did not begin to change until I committed to taking ownership of my rehabilitation. I stopped waiting for every answer and started pushing myself, one step at a time.
My story is about setbacks, perseverance, and resilience, but the goal of my keynote is bigger than inspiration.
I want people to leave knowing they do not need the perfect plan to move forward. They just need to take the first step.
That is why I want to help people standing where I once stood. I cannot remove the hard part, but I can share what I learned and hopefully give them a clearer path forward.
You are uniquely positioned to help the person you once were.
My life changed after a car accident, 45 surgeries, and being told I would never walk again. Adversity has shaped the last 20 years of my journey.
We are capable of surviving far more than we realize.
People ask how I spent eight weeks flat on my back. The truth is, you do not know what you are capable of until life forces you to find out.
@EdMylett
Sometimes burnout is a signal to stop, reassess what’s working, and adjust. When I do that, frustration can become fuel to push through the sticking point.
Burnout usually shows up when the effort I’m putting in doesn’t match the results I expected.
That’s why I try to focus less on unrealistic expectations and more on the process. The process is where the learning happens.
