Jeg har sagt det her igen & igen over de sidste 5-6 år. I debatindlæg, i TV, radio & på SoMe.
De personlige forandringer hænger uløseligt sammen med de systemiske.
Og specielt folk der ønsker systemisk forandring bør gå forrest!

New post: "a habitable Earth can no longer afford the rich - and that could mean me & you". https://t.co/8TLXBrQchM
I was asked to write the piece by @ConversationUK, but as it was about to go live a senior editor had it pulled, so here it is now on the @Clim8Uncensored site.
🚨 BREAKING: The UK government has just approved Rosebank, the biggest undeveloped oil field in the UK. We won’t let this stand.
Together we will #StopRosebank https://t.co/LSytFaA4yq

MAJOR UPDATE: All planetary boundaries are assessed, and six are crossed.
For the first time ever, scientists have quantified all nine planetary boundaries. Six of them are already transgressed and we are increasing pressure on the others.

Take that in. Then try wrapping your head around the fact that we’re only seeing the beginning of a destabilising planet, while remembering that GHG emissions are still rising and the companies largely causing this are making record profits.
A bit concerning, don’t you think?
Finally updated my data for 2022 - amount of emissions avoided using CCS, vs amount emitted (directly emitted or enabled through product sales)
Captured, as % of released:
Shell - 0.1%
Exxon - 1.1%
Chevron - 0.2%
Equinor - 0.2%

May 2023 ,according to NOAA, was also the 3rd warmest on records, behind 2020 and 2016, the same ranking as NASA
Details ⬇️
Japanese JMA instead saw May 2023 as the warmest on records, while European Copernicus as the 2nd warmest
@Berkeley Earth data will be released in few days
Though, you do have to stomach some bad news...
The Remaining Carbon Budget for 1.5°C has gone from 500 GtCO₂ to 250 GtCO₂ in three years: we emitted an extra 3*40=120 GtCO₂ & the science was updated... Oops...
The majority of cash in the fossil fuel industry is sitting in companies that have set net zero targets and put them into 'corporate strategy'.
Yet, none of these companies are substantially re-designing their businesses to sell safe energy products. Data via @NetZeroTracker 🫡
If you would like a pleasantly maddening picture of exactly how severely the fossil fuel industry has been lying to us, here's their total net income from 2015 to 2022, compared to how much they've spent on various non-fossil technologies:
No, Sweden's emissions are about the same today as in 1990, it's just that more of them are now coming from biogenic sources, which aren't counted in the official stats.
It looks like decoupling, but in reality, we're still emitting like in the 90s, while destroying our forests.
There's *a lot* running on carbon removal success - a massive amount of removal has been 'pre-purchased' by a range of customers, and a relatively small amount has been actually captured.
