On July 15, 2007, the Phillies lost their 10,000th game. No pro sports franchise had ever done that. Two and a half months later they won the NL East, and the next October they won the World Series.
All that losing still shows up. Philadelphia and Baltimore are the only two of the 16 franchises that were around before expansion still sitting under .480 all time.
At the top, the Yankees have won about 57 percent of their games. The Giants are next at .534.

#OTD 1969 - After 25 years, Cardinals broadcaster Harry Caray was fired.
This interview by Ron Jacober with Harry drinking a can of Schlitz beer after being terminated by the Anheuser-Busch owned Cardinals is epic stuff.

October 6, 1990: The “Fifth Down Game.” The refs inexplicably give Colorado 5 downs to score the winning TD and beat Missouri 33-31. The TD was also a very close call.
CU would finish 11-1-1 & ranked #1 in the AP Poll to win a share of Natl title.
Eugene Bullard grew up in Columbus, Georgia, and left home as a boy after his father narrowly survived a lynch mob. He worked his way north, stowed away on a ship to Scotland around 1912, boxed for money in Britain, and settled in Paris.
When the First World War began he joined the French Foreign Legion. He fought on the Somme and at Verdun, where he was badly wounded, and was awarded the Croix de Guerre. While recovering he trained as a pilot, qualifying in 1917, and flew combat missions with a French squadron.
After the United States entered the war, American pilots serving with French units were transferred into the US Army Air Service. Bullard was not. No Black pilot was accepted.
He stayed in France, ran a Paris nightclub, and in 1940 passed on what German customers said to French intelligence. He fought again at Orléans, was wounded, and escaped through Spain.
Back in New York he worked as an elevator operator at Rockefeller Center. He was beaten by a mob at a Paul Robeson concert in 1949. France made him a chevalier of the Légion d'honneur in 1959. He died in 1961. The US Air Force commissioned him posthumously in 1994.

400g carrots (peeled and cut into rounds)
200-250g glutinous rice flour
For the garlic chili oil sauce
2 garlic cloves (minced)
2 spring onions (finely sliced)
1 tsp red chili flakes
2 Tosp neutral oil (hot)
1 Tosp soy sauce
1 Tbsp black vinegar (or rice vinegar)
Method
Add the carrots to a saucepan and cover with just enough salted water.
Boil until fork tender, then drain and immediately mash or blend until smooth while still hot.
While the mashed carrot is still warm, mix in 200g of the glutinous rice flour until a dough forms.
Add more flour as needed until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky - if your dough is too crumbly add some hot water to bring it together.

Pinch off small pieces of dough, roll into balls, then press your finger into the centre to create a little button shape. Cook the button noodles in boiling water for about 3 minutes (or a good rule of thumb is to take them out 30 seconds after they float to the surface).
Divide the noodles across two bowls then top with garlic, spring onions and chili flakes.
Pour over the hot oil, then stir in the soy sauce and vinegar.
Stir through the button noodles and serve immediately.

Copycat Taco Bell Mexican Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
- 8 (8-inch) flour tortillas
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup refried beans, warmed
- 1 cup cooked, Mexican-seasoned ground beef
- 1/2 cup taco sauce
- 1/4 cup red enchilada sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons black olives
- 3 tablespoons chopped green onions
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
2. Fry the Tortillas: Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, fry the tortillas one at a time until golden brown on both sides, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove each fried tortilla and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
3. Arrange Base Tortillas: Layout 4 of the fried tortillas on a baking sheet - these will be the bases for your pizzas.
4. Add First Layer: Spread an even layer of warmed refried beans on each base tortilla. Add a layer of the cooked Mexican-seasoned ground beef, then sprinkle with half of the mozzarella cheese.
5. Add Top Layer: Place one of the remaining fried tortillas on top of each pizza to create a sandwich-like structure.
6. Make the Sauce Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the taco sauce and red enchilada sauce. Mix well until combined.
7. Add Sauce and Cheese: Spread about 2 tablespoons of the sauce mixture over the top of each pizza. Sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese and all of the Mexican cheese blend.
8. Bake: Bake at 400 degrees for 3 to 4 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
9. Top and Serve: Top each Mexican pizza with diced tomatoes, black olives, and chopped green onions. Slice into quarters and serve hot!
