"The Fleeting Buffer from Tech, How Our Degrading Social Institutions are Leaving us High and Dry"

Defining our modern age is not as remarkable when we focus on technology alone, but the degrading social institutions that once arose from spontaneous human activity. Tremendous amounts of human tasks predating computer automization allowed for the support of institutions that pertain to all types of tasks that required social building and other human to human interaction to complete these tasks. Today, as all types of human activity and tasks in the productive and leisure sense become automated, we are losing human function and our capacity to cooperate and communicate with one another in a human sense. For every institution we lose, technology becomes the replacement. We become remarkably numb to human connection and almost entirely reliant on an anonymous and bleak system of technology that supplants the old. The spotaneous spark may have extinguished, what we have lost may be permanent.

"When the Pain of Remaining the Same Exceeds the Pain of Change"

The cost of staying the same is always present, felt and easily comprehensible. We can calculate the pain and perceive every which way the sameness affects us and the tolls it leaves behind. But at some point there is an inflection when the cost of change drifts lower than remaining ourselves. This great leap is tremendous as our ability to discern the cost of change only becomes reflected as we begin the transformation. The initial cost can be staggering, since most transformation costs are front loaded, leaving behind a depreciating marginal cost as time progresses. Those initial stages are combated against our old ways that tread into the new habits we are trying to enforce. Part of this cost structure encompasses the old habits of the sameness that get added to the additional changes we are trying to make, but as those habits phase out the switching costs begin to diminish and life begins renewed. Paul is the greatest historical example post Christ that we can reflect on a dramatic change, from Pharisee to Christ preacher. Do not be afraid of your future.
