@WHGCHGANFANE@zajako_ Svans do have a little bit Turkic autosomal but very little, they the only Georgians that have some Turkic DNA. 6 percent of their mtDNA is East Asian.
@PritishChan@ThatchEffendi@homosovieticus_ Plus lots of R1a in Caucasus (more R1a than R1b outside Dagestan), even some ethnicities in Dagestan actually got good R1a.

@PritishChan@ThatchEffendi@homosovieticus_ Did you not read what the last study link said? Large scale admixture with steppe people happened in North Caucasus in the Late Bronze Age, which is Srubnaya era, so Iranic. Not to mention Scythians, Turkics also mixed with Caucasus later on.
@PritishChan@ThatchEffendi@homosovieticus_ And mind you, this admixture in Caucasus is largely from Srubnaya-culture and so on, so Iranic, as large scale admixture didn't happen until Late Bronze Age.

@PritishChan@ThatchEffendi@homosovieticus_@PritishChan Like have you seriously not looked at a single Ossetian autosomal sample you π€‘

@Acwfpr@Koso185437@whit48128 I said these because you said on another post that Ossetians have only 10 percent Indo-Aryan and thus have less than Southern Persians.
@Acwfpr@Koso185437@whit48128 In fact, Ossetian and Chechen steppe is Sintashta derived since according to studies, large scale admixture with steppe happened in N. Caucasus in Late Bronze Age (Srubnaya era).

Meanwhile Iranians get steppe from Hasanlu also, which is Yamnaya derived.
@WHGCHGANFANE@TORUKMAKTO_1 If someone says things in an exaggerated way, people are going to think Ossetian situation is same as most Abkhazians and Meshketian Turks where their overall DNA literally matches Georgians nearly 100% or completely, but that's not the case for Ossetians.
@WHGCHGANFANE@TORUKMAKTO_1 Ossetians autosomally also don't exactly match Georgians, that is an exaggeration. There are rather significant differences even if majority DNA matches (I told this to you before).
@Steppeman1465@Ridain6@kishtik010709 According to studies, most of the steppe ancestry in North Caucasus is from late Bronze Age and onward, so Sintashta/Srubnaya descended.

(IDK if this encompasses Dagestan as well).
@kvali_app@R1aZ93Turkish So maybe the Karachay-Balkars were Oghuric speaking but later switched to Kipchak because that was lingua franca and since the two languages are similiar?π€
IDK if linguistic data sports this though.

Also this study, through IBD scaling, gave Balkars an 8th century date for the East Asian admixture, predating the Kipchaks.
They didn't specify the date for Ossetians, but probably it is about the same.
