While I agree carrying long guns is not just a right, it's a required right that should never be infringed. Personally, I prefer the tactics of being more subtly armed in day to day situations. Just don't tell me I can't carry an AR and you won't have to worry about me.
The cops should have backed down when he gave a reasonable answer. Their initial interest was understandable, though.
@FlatEarthZone How much heat energy do you think will transfer from 121C in a near vacuum? You might look into how thermos bottles depend on vacuum for insulation.
@FlatEarth_TW Not that you would ever notice, but the airplane's adjustment for earth curve is a constant rotation. It's not something that would need incremental adjustment.

If you can cite motion other than earth rotation that precesses a free pendulum, I'm willing to investigate. Ring laser gyros are useless in aircraft if they don't detect rotation. You can measure pressure differential without containment with your smartphone's barometer, by the way.
So, what precesses a free pendulum? You can see the same thing with a helicopter, by the way. Suspend it from a cable and swing it like a pendulum. It will precess, too.

Did you know I can find the acceleration of gravity from a pendulum without paying any attention to its weight, mass, or density? All I need is the length of the pendulum and the period of its swing and I can tell what gravity's influence is, at sea level, atop Mr. Everest, on the surface of the moon, or anywhere.
I was so excited at learning how to do that I measured earth's gravity in my living room with a piece of string tied to a padlock and a stopwatch.
No need to fret. Earth's gravity is roughly 9.8 m/s^2. I checked. You should, too.
