Their momentum upon landing is not really that different than before takeoff. They step into the shots. The one exception is KD's first shot in the clip, that one he does flail his legs out like harden. If he was hoping to get a call, glad he didn't.

The only players that move forward are stepping INTO their shot, not stepping back. Several clips show them landing in the same damn spot. And notice how in 0 of the cases do they ask for a call.

Harden steps back, the defender follows cause they're playing defense, then Harden swings his legs forward to try and get a foul call. No one besides harden jumps forward during a stepback. It's unnatural; he just does it to get calls.
