Let's talk about something no one wants to say out loud in college sports:

Foreign athletes are snatching up spots on American college rosters, and it's getting out of hand.

Go look at a Top 25 tennis roster, golf, soccer, track and field, cross country, swimming. Some teams are 70%, 80%, even 100% international. Coaches are flying to Europe, Africa, Australia to recruit 23, 24, 25-year-old "freshmen" who already played pro circuits overseas, and then they come here and beat up on 18-year-old American kids straight out of high school.

How is that fair?

It's completely unfair and it's killing the American athlete pipeline.

Parents spend $15k-$20k a year on club soccer, AAU, junior golf, USTA tournaments, swim clubs — thinking if their kid works hard enough they can get a college scholarship. Then the coach says "sorry, we just signed a 24-year-old from Spain who has 5 years of pro academy experience."

And it's not just about age. In many countries, their federation pays for their training since they were 10. They come here already fully developed athletes, getting a free education paid for by American tuition dollars, taking NIL money now too, then leaving.

Meanwhile, the American kid who dreamed of running for Oregon or playing tennis for Michigan gets told to walk on at a D3.

Coaches do it because it's easy. Why develop an 18-year-old American over 4 years when you can import a 23-year-old ready-made winner from overseas and save your job?

The NCAA needs a cap. Like 30% max international per roster. Or an age limit if you are over 21 as a freshman you can't compete. Or if you have pro experience overseas, you lose eligibility.

American colleges should be for American students first. If you want to run a pro international academy, don't call it college sports.

I watched the Texas - OU game with fellow Texans tonight who rooted for OU because it’s become virtually impossible for most Texas kids to get into their state school. All our tax money is funding education for kids from other states and other countries.
