Shoutout to @LibHauser5th's amazing class! They collaborated outside of school hours and created a personalized class playlist. We jammed out to it today during our last music class together. They are such a fun class and I am going to miss them when they move onto middle school!
4th grade is learning a stuffed animal routine to the William Tell Overture this week! To make it even sillier, students in @MrsRoivas's class tried it out with the biggest stuffed animals they could find. It's much harder to perform rhythms when your prop is bigger than you 😂
I look forward to this project every year! In preparation for 6th grade music selections, 5th graders are tasked to create a "promo poster" for their favorite instrument. I am always blown away by their creativity! Here are a few of my favorites so far:
It's December so you know what that means - The Nutcracker! Scarf routines may look different virtually, but we made it work with our own objects! Everyone always loves speeding up at the end of of the song, and then falling to the ground. @fergusonteach01
Dancing our way to Thanksgiving Break! "The Mashed Potato" dance was made famous by Dee Dee Sharp in 1962. She is widely known as the first Black female teen idol. 4th grade was shocked to see her music video in black and white! @sclover4th
3rd grade has been learning about the origins of rap, & how to speak in rhythm with a beat. Last week, they created their own beats & rapped a nursery rhyme overtop of them. Check out this student from @MrsSchoenherr3 who went the extra mile & even wrote her own lyrics!
This week 4th & 5th grade are learning about Lil Nas X and his impact on the country/hiphop scene. After that we will try our hand at writing our own "Old Town Road" parodies using the topic "Life in 2020." I can't wait to see what these creatives kids come up with!
It’s been a crazy year, and certainly one I will never forget! I cherish every memory we’ve made together, both inside and outside of the school building. Here is a look back at some of the fun we had in music class this year. See if you can spot your class! 🎶🌞
Kindergarten and work from home has been a struggle (to put it lightly), but we’re still trying to find ways to keep it interesting and fun. Today, we used water balloons to practice sight words!
