Thanks to all who came out to the 2nd Annual Memorial Bomb Suit Run benefitting “After The Long Walk” and supporting the EOD Community and Mental Health Awareness. Austin Police (APD) Special Operations, Bomb Squad and SWAT were excited to display robots and the bearcat. Earlier this week, Austin Police Air Support and Austin Fire Department Special Operations Rescue Swimmers—jointly known as the Helicopter Search and Rescue Team (HSART)—headed to San Antonio for the Texas Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX).
This large-scale training prepares multi-state first responders for critical airborne rescues during natural disasters. HSART joined 52 other units from various agencies, utilizing nearly two dozen aircraft to execute close to 300 practice rescues during the intensive, all-day event.

APD teamed up with Dell Children’s Medical Center for the 11th annual Super Hero Day, a beloved tradition that brings joy to patients and families when they need it most. Officers, physicians, and staff suited up as heroes and villains alike for a day packed with excitement from start to finish.

From rappelling down walls to “save the day" to walking the halls to meet some of the bravest Austinites out there - patients watched the magic unfold and got to meet their favorite characters.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day unforgettable. Sometimes, being a hero means showing up, lifting spirits, and making someone's day a little brighter. 💫

La Policía de Austin (APD) se unió al Centro Médico Infantil Dell para celebrar el 11.º Día de los Superhéroes, una tradición muy querida que lleva alegría a los pacientes y sus familias cuando más la necesitan. Policías, médicos y personal se disfrazaron de héroes y villanos para disfrutar de un día lleno de emoción de principio a fin.

Desde descender en rappel por las paredes para «salvar el día» hasta recorrer los pasillos para conocer a algunos de las personas más valientes de Austin, los pacientes vieron cómo se desarrollaba la magia y pudieron conocer a sus personajes favoritos.

This morning, the Austin Police (APD) 156th Cadet Class took part in the long-standing Chief’s Run - a powerful tradition symbolizing unity, commitment, and the journey ahead. Joined by Chief of Police Lisa Davis, 36 cadets ran from the south end of the Congress Avenue Bridge to the Texas State Capitol Peace Officers Memorial.

As they crossed the finish line, they’re one step closer to becoming Austin Police Officers. Tomorrow, they’ll officially be commissioned, but today was about reflection, resilience, and the bond they’ve built along the way.

Esta mañana, los cadetes de la clase 156 de la Academia de Policía de Austin (APD) participó en la tradicional Carrera del Jefe, una poderosa tradición que simboliza la unidad, el compromiso y el camino que tienen por delante. Acompañados por la jefa de policía Lisa Davis, 36 cadetes corrieron desde el extremo sur del puente de la avenida Congress hasta el Monumento a los Oficiales del Orden Público del Capitolio del Estado de Texas.

Al cruzar la línea de meta, dieron un paso más hacia su conversión a oficiales de policía de Austin. Mañana recibirán oficialmente su nombramiento, pero hoy fue un día de reflexión, resiliencia y el vínculo que han forjado a lo largo del camino.
