Police are not usually the person that people want to have contact with. Whether an officer is giving a violation ticket or making an arrest; officers must be firm but also show humanity & compassion. #JoinAbbyPD

As a police officer, some people just want to be heard. Active listening will help people feel understood & appreciated. Active listening= correctly interpreting & understanding others' needs; a key skill to resolving conflict.
