Jay Cull is a business owner and pastor from Kansas City. He came into the Eden Lead Cohort carrying something he could not quite name. Looking back, he describes it as a quiet sense of abandonment from his earthly father that had quietly shaped the way he saw God for his entire life.

He was not alone in that. Research from Baylor University found that close to 75% of adults in the West experience God as distant, critical, or angry. For many leaders, God feels more disappointing than delightful. More intimidating than near.
