Home is where we should all feel safest. But for many women, that is not a reality.
More than 5 women or girls are killed every hour by a family member.

#DebtTrapNation by @K_Brickell and @melnowicki is an important new book which sheds light on how housing policies are failing domestic abuse victim-survivors.
Victim-survivors are prevented from accessing stable housing because of policies which exclude them from social housing allocations due to rent arrear debts. Debts which are a direct consequence of domestic, including economic, abuse.
These harmful social housing policies compound and enable abuse, forcing victim-survivors into homelessness and preventing them from rebuilding their lives โฌ๏ธ
There is a need to recognize how abusers use money to trap, isolate, and cause harm in the relationship and post-separation and even in cross border litigations.. ๐ฌ๐ง vs ๐ช๐ฆ
Weโre proud to stand with @EVAWuk and others in calling on the Government to set out a clear, actionable plan to halve violence against women and girls in a decade.
Together, we've set out clear principles and recommendations for how this mission must be delivered, starting with listening to survivors and measuring what matters.
This must include recognition of how abusers use money and economic resources to trap, control and cause harm.
Any strategy should also seek to understand and respond to women's intersectional needs and barriers to support. This is particularly important for migrant, Black, and racially minoritised victim-survivors.
@HussainShafiei@metpoliceuk Sounds like that character in the sitcom Alf Garnet. Racist, bias, discriminatory. Yet, here we are in a real life situation. Being filmed life while travelling with lots of other passengers. ๐ค๐ฅ๐ฑ
โ ๏ธ Did the court โ make the children sign an NDA. They may still be children right now, but in a few years time they will be adults, able to speak out. therehttps://observer.co.uk/news/national/article/child-abuse-is-never-above-the-law-not-even-if-youre-a-family-court-judge
@coptic_lion@realMaalouf All men are lustful ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
True. So women are not safe even if covered in sheets of black and only have their eyes showing. If she chooses a red ๐ handbag this will be like a red rag to a raging bull ๐ฉ so she needs to be careful in her choices. No man can be trusted.
Imagine going into the family court as a victim survivor of domestic abuse and explaining the law, case law, human rights law that member states must abide by, point out that this hasn't been done in your case to the judge and agencies and you get punished by having your child removed.
An imagination is not needed here as this happens day in, day out in the UK family courts.
This has to stop, we all deserve better than that. We must be able to trust our judiciary to uphold the law.
Nobody should ever be punished for making a disclosure of domestic abuse, especially by the very institutions that should be protecting them.
Claire does a fantastic job standing up for victims in London. I encourage all PCCs to consider appointing a dedicated Victims' Champion - ensuring the victimโs voice is at the heart of local policy making, support services meet local victim need, and agencies are held to account

@AdrianCutts5@RealDeniseWelch The Government raised the Pension age. They made a mistake. What they should have done was lower the mens retirement age to 60 in line with Women. Men who are employed in manual Labour construction industry or self employed like roofers could retire give younger men a chance..
