A man was going to his flat with his female companion, and this woman allegedly stopped him, demanded his flat number, abused him, threatened him, and questioned why he was recording her because he was “not from media.”

The language she used was not confidence. It was cheap intimidation.

Had a man spoken like this to a woman, he would have been branded a predator before sunset. But here, society will suddenly become silent, soft and selective.

A woman’s gender cannot become a licence to abuse, threaten and humiliate a man.

Divorce Isn't the End. For Many Men, It's Just the Beginning of the Punishment.

The longer the litigation, the longer the trauma for the children. Even before the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court, Sr. Adv. Kapil Sibal acknowledged a reality many men have been suffering through for years: the real battle is often not the divorce itself, but the endless war over maintenance, custody, and prolonged litigation.

Across India, thousands of men allege that family laws are no longer being used merely for protection, but are increasingly being weaponized for leverage. The result is often the same: fathers spend years fighting for access to their own children, marriages become financial battlegrounds, and children grow up caught in a conflict they never created.

The law must protect genuine victims. But when legal provisions are misused, innocent men and their children become collateral damage. A failed marriage should not become a lifetime revenue stream, and a child should never become a bargaining chip in a courtroom negotiation.

The real question is simple: If the child's welfare is paramount, why are fathers still forced to spend years proving they deserve a place in their own children's lives while the system rewards conflict, delay, and litigation over closure and healing?

The Fake Dowry Industry in India: A Legal Scam Worth Billions (in Pain, Shame & Lost Lives)

Guys, the fake dowry racket in India isn't just a few bad apples... it's a full-blown industry. Every year, nearly 100,000 complaints are filed under Section 498A for cruelty & dowry harassment alone. But the justice system convicts only a fraction of them. We're talking 14–20% conviction... & the rest are just straight up accusations without proof.

That means 80–86% of these cases are either bogus, exaggerated, or unresolved. And that's not an opinion... it's IRS-level calculation.

Hold on, because the stats get uglier: surveys put the percentage of false dowry & #DomesticeViolence complaints at a staggering 98%. It's practically a legal terrorism racket.

One survey broke it down brutally:

"More Than 80% of Domestic Violence & Dowry Cases in India Found to Be False… Dowry Deaths: 60,577 cases… Convictions: 1,231. Cruelty under 498A: 852,598 cases… Convictions: 8,307."

Translation: hundreds of thousands of men & in-laws are dragged into trials, bullied, & financially hemorrhage... all because laws that were meant to protect women have become weapons.

Now, lets call the system out:

- Arbitrary arrests: Under 498A, cops can - & often do... lock men up first, investigate later. The SC had to step in with the Arnesh Kumar guidelines to curb wrongful arrests.

- Cases lurch on for years: Trials drag. Lives collapse. Money vanishes. And conviction is a distant dream.

- Legal system turned on its head: Laws meant to protect women have become tools for revenge, extortion or emotional blackmail.

Here's the Reality:

- Size of the so called market: Approx 100,000 cases/year, with conviction rates as low as 14–20%. So roughly 80,000+ cases... potentially bogus or unresolved - per annum. That's a national scale tragedy masquerading as justice.

- The real cost? Mental breakdowns, financial ruin, reputational disaster, & shattered families. It's not just numbers... it's lives.

- Radical reform needed: A fair system would presume innocence, mandate preliminary inquiries before arrest, cap false filing penalties, & deliver swift justice... for victims & the accused alike.

Summary:

India's #DowryHarassment laws aren't stopping crime... they're creating one. With 80–98% of cases ending in acquittal or worse, stalling indefinitely... Section 498A has become the world's most lucrative black market for pseudo-justice. It needs urgent, savage reform.
