Kenya has given the go-ahead for construction of its inaugural subterranean rail system within a broader urban transit initiative.

The route is set to link the Central Business District with Eastlands, one of the capital’s most congested districts.

Authorities anticipate the development will ease road congestion, cut journey durations and facilitate smoother movement throughout the city.

It is also designed to integrate with existing transit networks, thereby enhancing everyday travel for residents.
