Corporate Program Manager @AusConservation 🌏 Working to help businesses get nature and climate positive, and make our economy work for people and the planet.
ANZ ranks at the bottom among the nation’s top five banks for fulfilling their net zero commitments, while Macquarie – one of the world’s largest infrastructure investors – is second last, a new benchmark report says. https://t.co/y56Xjbphcb
Carbon capture and storage is like trying to keep a fart under a blanket.... it finds its way out.
The only commercial scale CCS project in Australia is failing. IMPORTING climate pollution is reckless! @AlboMP@Bowenchris https://t.co/EFZWltti6v
Green steel in Australia took a big step forward today. Australia’s manufacturing future can be revived with cheap and abundant renewable energy. 🌞https://t.co/R2I6b0z0PA
Gas companies have come out crying since the Government reached a deal with the Greens on the #SafeguardMechanism.
But remember, we liken gas to cane toads - it'll just make the problem worse! 🐸
#auspol
Big news! Gas is a fossil fuel that heats the climate. Renewable energy isn't and doesn't. Dutch bank ING has tightened lending on oil and gas. Which Aussie bank will be the first to follow. Is it you, @ANZ_AU? https://t.co/nJtoVyn9B3
Great to see independent @WilkieMP introduce his Cleaning Up Political Donations Bill, which would ban big donations and improve transparency. We can get dirty fossil fuel money out of politics. #auspol
Great to see independent @WilkieMP leading on cleaning up our flawed political donations laws that allow big corporations, like coal and gas giants, to buy access and influence within our political system. This is a problem we can fix, now!
Australia’s political donations laws are akin to handing over wads of cash in brown paper bags. This can't go on. My Cleaning up Political Donations Bill will strengthen the transparency & accountability of political donations in Australia https://t.co/FkPbJwHtKr #auspol#politas
@MikeGrunwald Interesting thread. "humans saved the whales" is some particularly inventive framing of humans stopping an activity that was leading to extinction...🤔
If there was ever an example of how native title is failing to protect the human rights of Gomeroi people or any other countries, this is it.
No doubt they will keep the fire burning.

There is also a big role for communities and local governments to play in shaping the transition and making sure it’s fair for workers. Gladstone and the work of @JaclynMcCosker and many others is a great example
https://t.co/Lmyml878Uv
New research by @ACSI_ESG shows AUS companies have not put much thought into a just transition for their workforce. They call for publicly disclosed transition plans and a gov led just transition framework to support workers who will be most impacted. 👏🏼👏🏼

Luckily the question asker stood her ground and corrected the Chairman that this is about NAB providing finance to companies who are expanding fossil fuel projects (which they do). He still refused to answer that question.
It's great to see that @HSBC's decision to stop financing new oil and gas fields was based on the science which shows that no new oil and gas fields are needed to meet demand under a net-zero by 2050 scenario. (1)

There is so much #gaslighting here. The @NAB Chairman just told the shareholder that the "premise of your question is not sound" and that NAB does not fund new or expansionary projects. This was not the question. @austethical
This is in stark contrast to Australia's largest banks-@NAB@ANZ_AU @CommBank @Westpac - who refuse to accept the science that no new coal, oil, and gas projects are needed to meet demand and who are financing projects that will burn fossil fuels well past 2050.
The Biodiversity COP15 is the biggest global moment for nature in a decade. That’s why @AusConservation@kellyoshanassy is there to make sure our voice is heard. We need to halt and reverse nature destruction this decade to end extinction!
#COP15#naturecrisis
Today’s move by Treasurer @JEChalmers towards requiring companies to report climate risks will help boost investor confidence and attract global finance as Australia moves to a cleaner economy. It will also bring Aust in line with the EU and NZ. (1/4) https://t.co/ICuj30Pd2B
