A generous neighbor has donated the use of his land (just a few minutes up the road) for us to start a new community garden! We've been hard at work preparing this new space to provide more refugee families with organic, local, culturally-appropriate fruits and vegetables!

Come visit us this weekend at the Atlanta Botanical Garden! We will be there from 10am - 2pm showcasing recipes provided by our very own gardeners! We will have samples of Burmese tea leaf salad, and cookies will be provided by Sweet Sweet Syria. Hope to see you then!

Weeds compete with plants for water and healthy nutrients in the soil. This weakens the plants, making them more vulnerable to diseases and infestation. Using straw is a great way to reduce weed growth and grow healthy plants!

THIS Saturday, June 6th, the county will host three drive-thru food distribution events during which 2,400 DeKalb residents will receive one 20-pound box of Georgia Grown fruit and vegetables and a 2-pound bag of pork sausage.

With recent garden expansion and increased cultivation, Katie and Faye have volunteered their time in the garden to help accelerate the process. From fertilizing the planting areas, to transplanting, to weed eating - we are thankful for these volunteers for their time.

On Friday, May 22nd (TOMORROW), DeKalb County will be hosting a 2 hour drive-thru event to distribute 1,200 boxes of fresh produce and 1,200 bags of chicken to support those with food insecurity...

Residents will receive one 20-pound box of fresh fruits and vegetables and one 10-pound bag of frozen chicken. These will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis at two locations.
