@ThanosM5 @Seanaci when i say i feel down a rabbit hole, i mean it: i was fascinated enough that i skimmed 3 years of the guy's tweets. he's over-the-top & has gotten progressively more so, but i fully believe that the core of the sentiment is genuine & misguided

@Seanaci the problem arises, as with this guy, when that appeal is taken as THE WAY TO PLAY and others' experiences & enjoyment is belittled in discourse or trampled in-game to facilitate the endorphin rush of being big and strong and right

@Seanaci heck, I don't even dislike powergaming or powergamers! It's not my preferred way as player or DM, but I completely understand the appeal of building a character like an open-ended puzzle or an efficient machine & watching them succeed & prevail through skill & luck

@Seanaci but despite all that, I feel fairly confident in saying that this guy wouldn't approve AT ALL of our game because it's just not a type of play he would enjoy - and therefore it's *wrong* somehow, which defeats his own core argument about players driving play together
