Most non-violent offenders serve their sentences and come back to our communities, and what happens while they are incarcerated plays a big part in whether they stay involved in the criminal justice system or move on to a better life.
Today is National "I Care About You" Day, and in a time when mental illness is on the rise, it's an important reminder to reach out and check on your friends and loved ones. #MentalHealth#ICareAboutYouDay
The prosecutor's approach to crime directly impacts the crime rate in our county and the quality of life of our citizens. I'm committed to leading with integrity, collaborating with law enforcement to effectively tackle crime, and making our court system more efficient.
I'm proud to serve every resident of Vanderburgh County, but first, I need your vote. If you're a Republican who votes "straight ticket," your vote will automatically go to my opponent. Please skip "straight ticket" voting this year and vote Noah Robinson for Sheriff.
@savingthenight 2/2 This avoids placing people in jail who aren't threats to our communities and also prevents reoffending by addressing the root causes of the criminal behavior.
@savingthenight 1/1 Thank you for your question, Mitch. Reducing overcrowding starts with making sure the people who are in jail really belong there. For non-violent crimes, my plan is to divert people to proper mental health or substance abuse treatment first.
In addition to cracking down on the people bringing illegal guns and drugs into our communities and perpetuating human trafficking, I will provide support for crime victims and trafficking survivors so they can recover from their experiences.
