@chrisemdin@RuizSealey Chris and Yolie, I needed to reach out to you to share how moved I was by the love and vulnerability you modeled during yesterday's #HipHopEd chat. Others too, but your contributions in particular struck a chord with me. Thank you for everything you are.
FRIENDLY REMINDER:
Don't wait until Sept to talk about Latinx topics. Don't wait until Nov. to talk about Indigenous people. Don't wait until Feb. to talk about Black history. Don't wait until June to talk about queer folx.
We exist all year round.
Just saw Brian Friel's "Translations" at Dublin's Abbey Theatre. I was speechless and in tears as the final moment of the performance resonated in the darkness. It was possibly the most moving piece of theatre I've seen in my life. Thank you, @AbbeyTheatre!
@JulianThePoet When I've come to those forks in the road, I've come to understand that it is not a choice between right and wrong; both choices can be right. I'm not an actor, but a parallel universe version of me is. I don't have kids in this reality, but in another one I do. 1/2
I tell my AP Lit/Comp classes over and over: this is just one test on one day, but, damn, after this school year, I'm happy to see my students get this W.
hi. i hope that you're kind to yourself, today. i hope you give yourself grace. i hope you think of yourself as a beautiful work in progress. i hope you give yourself credit for every step forward. i hope you remember how far you've come.
An excellent lesson is like a good story.
It has a beginning, middle, and ending. It is engaging. There is a through-line that carries from beginning to end. It's accessible and has entry points for all students.
How about we arm teachers with books, curriculum, and the agency to teach honest truths about our past and make sense of the sad state of our present. This is the only way we can get to a future where idiots with political power aren’t actually considering giving teachers guns
