How the Mike McCarthy hire works.

1. Good buddies McCarthy, Khan, & Weidl put together a stellar Free Agency and Draft in Pittsburgh in 3 months, upgrading at WR and adding young talented pieces in the secondary and at LB.

2. Mason Rudolph/Will Howard split the season at QB1, and you give all these new pieces time to gel for a year (and see what you’ve got in Howard) with no expectations for winning anything.

3. You land a Top 10ish pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

4. You draft a QB in the Top 10 of a (hopefully) loaded class that McCarthy takes under his wing and develops into a star.

5. With your remaining 2027 offseason capital, you fully replace aging stars on defense and get the team built around your Rookie QB.

6. Ready to compete with a star QB and really good roster by 2028.
