@AliPlumb@AbroadInJapan I'm incredibly biased but Tottori prefecture is beautiful and the whole Sanin area has great hiking, sand dunes and food! And there's also Mizuki Shigeru road, the famous road filled with Yokai statues.
For everyone into history and addressing transcription ethics (fun I know!) Join me next month to discuss my work and hear about everything from the issues with AI transcription, what co-design can learn from Oral History, and the wonders of filler words!
Exciting news! I just started a new job last week with @RMGreenwich ! I'm doing exciting research on Project Unpath Co-designing and delivering digital content with maritime heritage :D(pictured my office in an 18th century brass foundry, if you're around Woolwich come say hi!)
@manwithoutatan @ejnagouse I totally agree with this. I think another great answer would be "You" (As in the kids themselves). The idea of how important our own perspectives and how we see things from my study of Oral Histories, and how history is something useful and makes us who we are.
10 signs a Twitter account is using Classics/History to lure people into their web of bigotry and misogyny:
1. Marble bust profile pic. Not always but surprisingly often. Such a tell!
As someone who lived in Tottori-Prefecture having the sandshrews as our mascot was always so fun! Also we had some wonderful Pokémon manholes as well! (I can't find my picture, but our city was famous for leeks so that's why Farfetch'd is there!)
@FincherAlison Yes! It's Matsuda Ken, I worked in his hometown in Japan, and went to one of his exhibitions . He's on twitter @keso230 and his website is https://t.co/7HBcnx90fU
To put into context for everyone, this is what London looked like in the same year as the photo (1978) by Dutch Photographer Ed Sijmons. The west's view of Japan can be so weird....
New episode of Hikikomori out on Patreon. It's the sour tale of an international vinegar magnate trying to gain custody of a baby for tax purposes, guest starring @JonCombey! https://t.co/ym9ex0EBaY
It's #MuseumSelfieDay(yes this pic kinda breaks the rules) but got back from holiday with @DubiousLab & the best history experience ever. 1700 year old catacombs used for 500 years by Christians,pre-christian and Jewish peoples of Malta! #stpaulscatacombs#rabat#malta
Ever since I was told these good-old-days, Western fetishization Twitters with marble profile photos were fashy accounts meant to onboard people into white supremacy through “aesthetics,” I haven’t been able to unsee it.
