Assemblymember Dr. LaShae Sharp-Collins @AsmLaShae (D-San Diego) just hosted a press conference to announce the introduction of a last-minute bill banning the use and purchase of electric “shock gloves” for local and state law enforcement across California.

The bill will prohibit state funds from being used to purchase such gloves, and require law enforcement agencies to update use of force policies around the use of such gloves.

Many in law enforcement are opposed to the bill, including Sacramento County Sheriff @SheriffJCooper.

The bill comes as the Trump Administration’s US DHS aims to supply ICE officers with the gloves.
