Crazy stat in UK Housing Review: govt spending on housing is at its highest: £30.5 billion in 2021/22 compared to £22.3 billion in 1975/76, in real terms. In the 70s, 95% was on housebuilding, now it's only 12%. The main reason for this drop? A rise in demand for housing benefit.

@jwsal @alastairis 7 of 11 are social rent now. I think they managed to get an extra one that was going to be for private sale from the original proposals.

I think Chowdhury Walk is an example of this where it ended up better than planned.

Suspending right to buy should be a day one priority for any Labour government.
