BODIES on @netflix was a very interesting project to compose the score for.
For a while I've wanted to put together a thread with some details on the approach to the music.
It's taken me a while to get round to this (busy composing) but for those interested here we go...🧵
@ethan_iverson But regardless of the exact figures I hope you know this is sent with the utmost respect for your writing. I was waiting for your tribute to DeJohnette after hearing the news, knowing it'd be insightful
@ethan_iverson For my own interest (and to find new ones I didn't already know), I compiled as complete a list as possible of all the official releases with a Dave Holland+Jack DeJohnette rhythm section. Excluding Miles, and live bootlegs, etc. I make it 42 releases.
@ethan_iverson Interesting. Maybe because they're all albums with such an impact (and I have around that number in my collection) I assumed there were more.
@ethan_iverson Listen to how hard he swings with Michel Petrucciani & Steve Gadd on the live version of "35 Seconds of Music and More" from Petrucciani's The Montreux Years: https://t.co/czrxzDsi6d
The Firm - great film. One of the very best 90s thrillers. Tom Cruise in his prime, great Gene Hackman performance. First and best of the John Grisham adaptations. Also, stunningly good piano-only score by Dave Grusin.
@lilbadsnacks Liking this tweet as (as well as agreeing with it) it’s one of the few in my timeline that’s from an actual person who I know exists in real life!
@DanPatonMusic Another way of looking at this is that in the early 90s people (myself included) would very happily pay £15 for a CD, which (adjusting for inflation) would be c. £32.50 now. So 7 CDs would be c. £230. So maybe it's actually that buying music has been dramatically devalued now.
Please support this incredibly important campaign.
More than 1,000 musicians have come together to release Is This What You Want?, an album protesting the UK government’s proposed changes to copyright law.

A good result for everyone last night in the UK as AI bill allowing tech companies to basically pillage and destroy the future of the creative industries is knocked back..
Speech below is brilliant and sums up entire situation excellently if you have the time.. 👇
