Some notes on the Canes as they move into the offseason:
Per Mike Futa, Carolina was asked to include Pyotr Kochetkov in a deal for Vincent Trocheck, and that's why the trade never happened.
Per Chris Johnston, Carolina chose Logan Stankoven over Jason Robertson in the Mikko Rantanen trade that sent him to Dallas.
Per David Pagnotta, the Hurricanes believe that Elias Pettersson would thrive with a change of scenery and within Carolina's system.
Per Jeff Marek and David Pagnotta, the Hurricanes have explored offering Jesperi Kotkaniemi and additional assets to Vancouver in an attempt to acquire Elias Pettersson.
This take is lazy. So many people picked Sens in Round 1, they obliterated them. Flyers got hot at right time with Vladar. Habs and Dobes run was generational. Vegas swept the best team on paper in NHL.
Respect the process
The 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs averaged 2.2M viewers across ESPN networks, up 127% from 2025 and 19% from 2024.
It marks the most-watched postseason in NHL history.
Crazy how Marner couldn't get enough of the media when the team was winning and then up 2-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals but as soon as that ended he ran and hid like the loser he is. Pretty soon it'll be the medias fault in Vegas for putting too much pressure on him #Forgedingold
After years of progress and setbacks, growth and stagnation, minor tweaks and wholesale changes, the Carolina Hurricanes' moment has arrived.
