I’ve been back on The Old Front Line this week at the far end into the Vosges. Along the way I’ve seen my first Swallows, and today above the trenches & barbed wire at Massiges I heard my first Cuckoo, listened to Nightingales in the trees & watched Yellowhammers over the crops.

Thanks to Ian Mason for taking me here 2 years ago been back and visited again the place where my Great Grandfather fought and died someone had done this with his picture I couldn't belive it was it was still there 2 years later . placed another poppy always remembered

Today marks 108 years since the Battle of Arras began. Just some of the many cemeteries that can be found on the old Arras battlefields. Testimony to the sacrifice in what was in terms of daily attritional casualties Britain’s bloodiest battle of the Great War.
