MANUEL CALLS OUT CARDEMA FOR 'DISINFORMATION' ON CSC CHAIR'S RESIGNATION CLAIM
Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raoul Manuel on Friday, May 23, slammed Duterte Youth Party-list Chairman Ronald Cardema for falsely claiming that Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairperson Atty. Marilyn Yap had submitted a courtesy resignation.
"This 40-year old person not only peddled disinformation. He also doesn't know that constitutional commissions are technically not under the executive branch. Kaya ang chair ng ganung mga komisyon ay di bahagi ng gabinete at di kasama sa mga pinag-resign ng nakaupong pangulo," Manuel said.
Cardema earlier cited a GMA News report that erroneously listed Yap as among those who had resigned and used this to pressure Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman George Garcia to do the same.
"Around 40 Secretaries, Secretary-Level Salary-Grade Officials, & Heads of Agencies & Commissions, have already filed their courtesy resignations including that from an independent Constitutional Commission, the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Chairperson Atty. Marilyn Barua-Yap. Why then is COMELEC Chairman Garcia not subscribing to the Wisdom of the President in his Call to resign?" Cardema said in a press release.
Yap has since publicly denied resigning, clarifying that she is not part of the Cabinet and that the CSC is an independent constitutional body.
