Self proclaimed nit. Husband to one, Father to two. Below average golfer but I play fast and repair ball marks. Grey Street is better with the third verse.
Posting my 2026 golf goals here for accountability:
- Single digit handicap by 12/31/26 (currently a 11.4)
- 2 sub-80 rounds
- 1 round with no doubles or worse (correlated to the above, most likely)
- Less range sessions, more 9 hole practice rounds.
Here’s to a good year!
Playing a fade/pull cut that can turn into a hot pull at any second.
Playing Friday and losing my 73 (2.1 rating) off my 11.8 handicap.
Playing next Saturday at my favorite course of all time (@tothillfarm).
At least I'm hitting the center of the club face (some of the time)!
@ChipJohnson01@YipStrickler Had this happen to me on Monday. Winning team of all members at the host course was -20 gross; claimed it was all "course knowledge". There were some impossible pins (especially on Par 3s), so no chance it was real.
Cheating at a charity scramble is absolute scumbag behavior.
PTO well spent today:
Up early
About to rip ~6 mi for marathon training
Home to give wife coffee in bed/hang with kiddos
Playing in a charity golf tournament at the former home course
Hate that I (an 11.8) am the best player on my scramble team. We face no choice but to ball.
Note for myself if I’m still on this godforsaken app in 20 years: There is going to be a day when you cannot wake up and run while listening to this weekend’s DMB shows. Just fucking get up, lace your shoes on, and do it.
@theappleMN Both for me. I ran a half in 2024, and I was pretty inactive for the past year and a half. Always wanted to check the full off and getting back into shape is a nice byproduct.
Playing golf-related: Dressing nicely (tuck your shirt in), playing fast, and being respectful are non-negotiables, no matter where you are playing.
Pro golf-related: If Cam Smith actually cared about being the best golfer in the world, he would be the best golfer in the world.
Thank you @davematthewsbnd and Charlotte last night for this moment and beautiful song honoring Canton, Haywood County, and most importantly, the mill workers and their families.

All-time day tomorrow:
- BEC on everything/Blue Powerade start
- 3 hr drive to Charlotte listening to @coynewriter's new book (cannot wait!)
- 18 w/ the lads at my former home course in college
- DMB show to cap it off
Try to beat it with a stick. You can't.
