@YourfaveTati Definitely set him up to fail from the beginning. That practice love confession Bear was giving at the beginning was actually very sweet, and Ian shamed him out of it because he knew it might work. And he was sleeping with her. He's the biggest villain of the movie.
@Gorillo13@aderayo_xo1 Yeah, and you can tell in the brief time she's on camera pre-insanity she's a pretty altruistic person, and because she's actually nice to Bear, he is obsessed, because he can't even be nice to himself. He loves how she makes him feel, not the actual person she is.
@dfw_ella_ Yeah. And it is unfair to hate Bear for this. He has no confidence or self-esteem. He's worthy of pity and shame, and people should try to see this as a learning experience for themselves in the real world. Just try to say the damned truth and deal with the consequences.
@Xibauxas@aderayo_xo1 Good points, but ultimately it's open for interpretation. I think that's what makes this movie so intriguing, and why it's sparked so much dialogue.
Alternate Ending Idea: The wish never worked. She was secretly obsessed with him and had planted a listening device in his car. When she heard the wish, she realized he wanted her and pursued him. When he still couldn't commit to her, she spiraled out of control. Better or worse?
@Daykerpriest Yeah, but did he really believe it was going to work? Would he have still summoned all hell if he had known the consequences? He was just a sad little insecure man. Nobody deserved their fates in this movie.
@Samthrilzz Also, dude, why did she ever earn that nickname "freaky Nikki" ? You may be onto something about her true self being set free. Or maybe just a part of herself she's been suppressing.
@Welegato03@Samthrilzz That's why the possession or demon theory kinda makes some sense. Or maybe he just made a wish that created impossible outcomes, causing her to glitch the f out.
@RewindTheWorld0 Yeah, I also noticed that and on the bottom of the pill bottle it says "do not eat". Maybe he's struggling and wrote that as a message to himself? Or his grandmother wrote it to keep him away?
@RewindTheWorld0 It's said multiple times in the movie that if he dies, the wish is broken. So he dies, and then she's fully conscious for the first time since the wish, and she's utterly terrified by the goings-on around her, as if waking up inside the worst nightmare imaginable.
@e_fosa08 It's literally the conflict of having to prioritize loving him more than anything else in the world. It's that literal. I think a lot of people are missing that detail.
