Following a directive by President Muhammadu Buhari for the immediate resumption of the New Governing Board of the North East Development Commission in an acting capacity, the Board has assumed charge of the commission's affairs. The NEDC Board officially took over operations in a brief ceremony held at the commission's headquarters in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The board assumes its acting role to ensure that critical operations and services within the NEDC are not disrupted pending confirmation by the Senate.
The pioneer MD/CEO, Mohammed Goni Alkali, had previously handed over the reins of administration to Grema Ali following the expiration of the past management's tenure on the 7th of May 2023.
However, Ali Grema today the 19th of May 2023, passed on the barton to Umar Abubakar Hashidu to take up leadership position as the Acting MD of the NEDC.

Yet, even after Seun Kuti surrendered himself to the police, they handcuffed him, paraded him like a common criminal, and raided his home. All because he slapped a policeman, which is, at worse, a misdemeanour. This looks like malice. This looks like institutional bias.
