I can guarantee they don’t need all of this to make a decision, and they won’t keep that detailed a log of risk. This smack of an organisation that had a team design the form, with all of their own biases and preferences, without thinking about what they needed from it
The new Arts Council Project Grants bid model is unsustainable and exclusionary.
Here's my b***h about it...
(inc. 10 things I've learnt from completing the new format).
🧵
@Adam_Y There’s a real issue with funders not putting some extra work in to
1. Make funding more accessible (simpler forms and processes)
2. Providing more support than just cash (helping grantees to grow and develop)
3. Reducing the workload of being funded - shorter, simpler reporting
@Adam_Y However, the reporting and then the need to reapply does inevitably distract away from what they actually want to be doing. Plus the fact that most don’t apply for what they need, they ask for what they think they can get, so the bid writing must continue, stifling the art.
@MrsJenRemainer Wait, you’re not telling me that it isn’t about letting the market dictate what’s best, surely? You couldn’t possibly be implying that there is no ideal, passion or beliefs behind this party? It couldn’t be simple greed that motivates them? Surely not!
@MrsJenRemainer Surely when it isn’t a health emergency, the decision about whether or not staff work from home should be left to the employers and the government should stay out of it? I thought the Tories were all about leaving organisations to run themselves in the most efficient way?
Big thanks to @YourOldChina and @warwickarts for the chance to show Dead Cats as the headline act of Bitesize this evening. Such a pleasure, after showing work-in-progress extracts of the previous two shows in 2015 and '17. Next up, @WarnMcr & @thelowry on Wednesday.
…forgetting of course that his employees are people who have to pay a cost of living.
It’s a mixed bag of ethical and capitalist (which is rarely ethical) but it’s hard to convey complexity on Twitter. (3)
I’ve just looked this up. It was the managing director for the UK, not the CEO. And yes, he did say they were losing customers to foodbanks and to hunger and confirmed they were keeping their £1 line of foods, but …(1)
…he was also defending inflation rises because supermarket costs are going up because of energy prices and the national living wage. Which is ironic because he was making an argument against national living wage to support people in dealing with the cost of living… (2)
In rooms like this room people lie. Not little lies, the kinds of lies that kill people, or worse…
