@lindsayskeeling It's a metaphor for the involvement of the subconscious in your art. If you feel like you're in control all the time, you're probably missing out on some of your creative potential.
@kareem_carr I used to help students at with their application essays professionally, and I always told them not to brag.
Every other part of the application is about what you've accomplished. The essay is where you have to humanize yourself. This guy sounds insufferable.
