To mark the anniversary of Ayatollah Khomeini's passing in #Iran and Eid al-Ghadir, interim Friday Prayer imam of Tehran Hojatoleslam Mohammad Javad Haj Ali Akbari read out a statement from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. Ali Khamenei used to deliver these speeches in person. Mojtaba is still in hiding but yet claims the U.S. and Israel suffered a humiliating defeat during the #IranWar‌.

Mojtaba then claims to compensate for this defeat, the U.S. and Israel are resorting to hybrid warfare to weaken the public's resilience and create miscalculations among officials.

This is a standard Khamenei speech--anti-American, anti-Israel at its core, sprinkled with conspiracy theories. Declarations of victory can be seen as setting the stage for an MOU or a diplomatic outcome but he makes no mention here of the diplomacy. Like his father did, he will likely seek to insulate and distance himself from any deal that's announced to later preserve his position.
