507 new words today, 1004 edited overall. I almost didn't do any writing today, but then I booted up my document and now it's past my bedtime! Every time something good happens for my characters, it never lasts. Like a "Do you want the good news or the bad news first?" situation.

@EdenSolera Depends on the type of magic, but one form involves binding one's soul to a magical item. Consequently, if they become physically separated by anything more than 10 feet or so, that soul connection snaps. This often kills the mage.

851 new words today, and revised 2038 in total. I try not to change things too much when I edit, but I saw an opportunity to give a one-off character's personality a bit more 'spice' and I took it. Now he's less of a cliche wizened old sage, and more of a grumpy, jaded old coot.

400 words today. I just got back from a trip and didn't really plan on writing--it just happened. I edited the entirety of Ch. 15, which is the exact midpoint of my book and coincidentally aligns with a plot twist. Sometimes story structure just happens, just like writing.

861 words today. Lots of bouncing around, mostly between chapter 5 and 18 which ended up connecting in unexpected ways due to a note that I wrote to my future self while writing the first draft. I always enjoy going off the rails a bit!

471 words today. I've been going back and weaving a new character development thread into old chapters that were written before I had the idea. I usually don't add many new words while revising, but this particular thread involves lots of dialogue. Things are getting tense!

378 words today. The process of revising chapter 13 is finally over! It's a short chapter, but something about it made it take forever to edit. Maybe because it's one big chase/action sequence? Lots of small details to keep track of.

In my opinion, one of the most damaging things to a new author's psyche is the romanticization of the struggling writer. You know, the one that agonizes over the placement of a comma for eight hours. I say it doesn't have to be that way--what do you think?#WritingCommunity
