"Cross‑modal orienting of exogenous attention results in visual‑cortical facilitation, not suppression" is now published at Scientific Reports! Check it out here: https://t.co/VvJm2iBlL3
New pre-print with Emilia Pokta and @violastoermer! In this project, we find both behavioral and ERP evidence that exogenous spatial attention improves perception by facilitating processing at an attended location, and not by suppressing unattended info.

Academics would double our productivity if we learnt some basic project management skills that are bog standard in the industry. We have this myth that scholarly success is all about brilliance and creativity, but in fact 90% of it is getting sh*t done, same as any other job.
New paper “American postdoctoral salaries do not account for growing disparities in cost of living” I found that real postdoc salaries vary by ~ 29% ($15k) depending on where you live (and your university) https://t.co/9lBGohJB77
My new preprint on tracing the emergence of the memorability benefit with @BenHyunPark, Jason Wu, Jonathan Cant, @DirkBWalther, and @KeisukeFukuda4 is available to read! Condensed version in the thread below.

My lab at Boston University has new openings for (1) a postdoc and (2) a full-time research associate / lab manager to work on studies of visual perception and attention. More info and how to apply here: https://t.co/FdBZSc5vgB
my team at @perceptive_auto is hiring! we are building a new approach to AI that incorporates psychophysics and cognitive science, breaking down complex human intuition into something machines can learn and replicate at scale.
New Pre-Print with @timothyfbrady and @violastoermer. https://t.co/OIpTyH2sKq In this project, we show there is no fixed limit for storing simple visual features in visual working memory. 1/
Some good news (for me): I successfully defended my dissertation last week! I'm grateful for all of the outstanding mentors, labmates, and RAs that contributed to my dissertation and other work during my PhD.
