🔵Constitution Defenders Forum political and civic activist Freeman Chari, a biomedical scientist and software engineer, explaining in Shona language why he is opposed to Constitutional Amendment Bill N0.3.
For those who don't understand Shona, he is basically saying it is wrong for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to extend his term of office by two more years to 2030 because the constitution doesn't allow him to do that even if he, let's assume, he has done well in office.
He says the late former Botswana president Festus Mogae built a lot of hospitals and infrastructure for hi country, but when his time to go came he left, in fact before that.
Chari says there is no justification at all for Mnangagwa to stay any longer as the constitution doesn't allow that even if he would have supposedly performed wonders in office, which he didn't.
He further says he is opposed to the proposal to elect a President through parliament because the constitution provides for a direct vote and in any case Zimbabwe is coming from the parliamentary system between 1980 and 1987 where initially the Prime Minister was elected by parliament, and in which the president was elected by the legislature from 1987 to 1990.
He goes on to further speak about delimitation of constituencies and gerrymandering, and the process of entrenchment of Zanu PF rule through the parliamentary model.
Chari also deals with other key issues which are part of the raft of political, electoral and governance changes in the constitutional amendments, including the Gender Commission.
In short, he says the amendments are bad through and through for him.
SOLIDARITY is fuel for the struggle. 🔥
We stand with Emmanuel Sitima and Takunda Mhuka — two courageous young Zimbabweans who have been unjustly imprisoned for over a month! They’ve been denied bail on shockingly flimsy grounds, on allegations they damaged property worth only US$10 (a window pane). They deny the charges.
In truth, they’ve been locked up to silence them because of their opposition to #CAB3. Takunda Mhuka was assaulted by ZANU PF thugs in Waterfalls on the same day I was assaulted by ZANU PF thugs at City Sports Centre. When Takunda went to report the matter to the police, he was arrested.
The system is broken.

🚨‼️URGENT!!! Hours after the Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs, @TMuguti visited Monavale vlei and condemned any development on this gazetted site, there are reports of an MP visiting the exact same area to place pegs. The fight for this @RamsarConv site continues!
The visit from government entities comes after a sustained resident led campaign to highlight the incursions into this important protected space. Just last week, MPs started clearing land for their own development. #PeoplePower@RamsarConv@TMuguti@birdlifezim

This one was snapped mid-flight on @MonavaleWetland by Piet Zwanniken. 👌📷 #WetlandsMatter
Thanks to the legal team for the many hours put into this comprehensive, nearly 500-page appeal to the Minister of Environment against an imminent development on @MonavaleWetland. Our City’s future depends on us protecting our City’s water sources!

Who can spot the @ReserveBankZIM Building? 👀 🧐 🔭
The Monavale Wetland Ramsar Site is less than 5 km from the heart of Harare’s Central Business District. 🏙️ It is a lung for the city, a source of its water, and a refuge for its people. #WetlandsMatter#SaveMonavaleVlei
Someone somewhere must know this thug.
Identifying them fast goes a long way in deterring the worst outcomes in Takudzwa Ngadziore @ngadziore’s abduction.
Please REPOST and SHARE this picture everywhere so we find someone who can identify him.

@daddyhope This is tragic and unforgivable. We must not tire of calling to account such injustices. It hurts so much more when it is a colleague. Rest in peace doc. You are gone before your time.
@Mrehwa14@PacheduZW@edmnangagwa@PoliceZimbabwe They are charged with supposedly obstructing the course of justice. Police turned up at the hospital where the 2 were admitted, wanting to 'investigate' them. The lawyers asserted the clients' right to peaceful recovery after the medical team deemed them not fit for interview.
@DavidColtart@DougColtart Not even 24 hours into the new old regime and they are up to nonsense. Another pointless, illegal arrest that flies in the face of human rights. Deplorable and sick
The verse of the day: there's a resonance and a depth that I think our people are craving as they reel in the wake of yet another 'defeat'. God is not far, God listens and in God's time, God moves. For now, we need God's strength 🙏🏾🇿🇼
If you want the next batch faster, you have to help us. It's the least you can do. Got https://t.co/mRA5CuAJKc and enter the votes on Presidential V11 shown. If u are given a non-presidential V11, just refresh. We have 9000 more to process. I will share the dashboard later.
