I am delighted to announce that my new book, “Rage and the Republic: The Unfinished Story of the American Revolution,” is now #2 on the New York Times Bestsellers list for nonfiction. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has bought the book... https://t.co/C2yKChl8y7

...If, as alleged, Peltola lawyers played a role in this despicable effort, they may have to remove themselves from aspects of this controversy if there is an investigation. They could become potential witnesses and possible targets of any investigation.

[Jonathan Turley @JonathanTurley]

I would be surprised if, as alleged, lawyers with Peltola played a role in the dishonest effort to confuse voters with decoy Dan Sullivans. Even if lawyers were willing to participate in such an effort to create mistaken votes, few would be willing to put themselves at such risk.

[Jonathan Turley @JonathanTurley]

...Note that Democrats applauded efforts to disbar Trump and Republican lawyers for their efforts during and after the 2020 elections.

[Jonathan Turley @JonathanTurley]

...The NY Times is alleging that even the campaign lawyers were involved in this effort with senior aides. That is a very serious allegation against any lawyers if Peltola was actually fishing for decoy Dan Sullivans.

[Jonathan Turley @JonathanTurley]

The NY Times is citing not just this campaign worker but others associated previously with the campaign. This could snowball quickly as staffers seek safe harbor given the federal filing. Mary Peltola's campaign motto could quickly become "fish, family, freedom [and Fraud]."

[Jonathan Turley @JonathanTurley]

......Since the Justice Department has already filed and has raised concerns over the legality of this effort, campaign officials can be at risk if there were efforts to conceal this conduct in pressuring potential witnesses or destroying possible evidence...

[Jonathan Turley @JonathanTurley]

...The campaign was on notice that this was a matter that was likely to be investigated by the Justice Department. This staffer is alleging that Peltola was aware of the effort. This could snowball if other staff members support aspects of this account. At a minimum, all staffers should preserve their records and, if true, should consult with counsel.

[Jonathan Turley @JonathanTurley]

In her recent federal filing, Mary Peltola's counsel insisted, "DOJ's complaint is wholly baseless." Now the NY Times is reporting that her campaign was actively involved in seeking to confuse Alaskan voters by running decoy "Dan Sullivans." A staffer now says that Peltola knew about the effort to force voter confusion.

...I have previously written about the hypocrisy of Democrats seeking to strip ballots of GOP candidates, including President Trump, in the name of protecting democracy. https://t.co/lGhv9jezZF

[Jonathan Turley @JonathanTurley]

The NY Times is reporting that the Peltola campaign actively sought decoy "Dan Sullivans" to confuse Alaskan voters and draw votes away from the incumbent. According to a staffer, the very people claiming to be "defending democracy" sought to obstruct it. https://t.co/pxOuGxcVIU

[Jonathan Turley @JonathanTurley]

...If true, the report raises concerns over filings by Peltola in seeking to dismiss an action by the Justice Department to address the obvious effort to confuse voters. The Peltola campaign did not state that they were actively informed in such efforts to cause vote errors ...

...In a state filled with the victims of the Cuban dictatorship, this is not some kind of Bigfoot theory or theoretical debate about string theory among physicists. Notably, Nixon did not have to take people's word for it in declaring Israel guilty of genocide in Gaza. https://t.co/O9fYJnDEe3

Florida gubernatorial candidate Angie Nixon's response to claims that Cuba is a dictatorship: "I will have to take their word for it." The line rivals Rep. Omar's "not to my knowledge" response to claims that she married her brother...https://t.co/QmtXmzXjAU

An ad supporting Abdul El-Sayed has been widely denounced as anti-Semitic, including by a CNN panel. Now the figure tied to the ad, activist Cenk Uygur is alleging defamation. He is wrong...https://t.co/Aoa7dd9nso

Democratic politicians and pundits are beginning to sound like virtual berserkers in expressing the ecstasy of unleashing investigations and prosecutions after retaking power in Congress. Gov. Hochul yesterday expressed her excitement about the prospect, while pundits are delighting audiences with calls for investigations that would even include figures like Barron Trump. It is rage being injected directly into the body politic. https://t.co/WcFCDt6X8S

I have the pleasure of joining my friend and former ACLU director Nadine Strossen at Villanova University on Thursday, October 29, to discuss "Wokeness in Higher Education." The event will be held at 6 pm in Driscoll Hall, 132 Larson Auditorium and Atrium. https://t.co/Ltav6szofn

...Herridge is not asking for immunity. She is seeking to establish a fair standard, so a court can balance interests in cases such as hers. The Court should accept review of this case given the existential elements for journalism in the United States.

Fox is out with my column on the case of Herridge v. Chen, where a respected investigative journalist is fighting to protect the core principle of confidentiality in a bizarre case filed after her story revealed an alleged national security risk... https://t.co/rCIBhIuJMM

...The CNN segment is armor-plated, unassailable opinion, in my view. Whatever viable lawsuits come out of the Michigan election, the Uygur defamation action will not be one of them.
