Last thought on Vanderbilt:
Committee likely voted on the 4/5 seed lines sometime Thursday/ Friday before Vanderbilt played Tennessee. Fine, I get it. They have to start and get teams in some order, before they can adjust as necessary to games played over the weekend.
Friday morning metrics for Vandy: 15 NET, 16 WAB, 15 SOR, 13 KenPom... 3-3 vs Q1A and 8-6 vs Q1... Only 1 win vs Top 4 seed lines (home vs Alabama) and only one road win vs single digit seed (@ Tennessee)... So, based on those data points a low end 4, maybe high end 5 seed if you want to ding them for lack of elite wins.
Now lets add in the two neutral Q1A wins over Tennessee and Florida.
Sunday morning metrics for Vandy: 13 NET, 9 WAB, 7 SOR, 11 KenPom... 5-3 vs Q1A and 10-6 vs Q1 + now a neutral court blowout win over a 1 seed... The new profile points to a solid 3 seed, at worst a high end 4 seed. The four metrics posted above moved up by an average of 4.75 spots, which *should* equate to a full seed line jump (4 spots = 1 full seed line).
By seeding Vanderbilt a 5 seed in the final bracket, you are essentially saying you moved Vanderbilt up 0 or 1 spots (mayyyybe 2 spots if they really didnt like the Vandy profile as of Friday?) for adding two Q1A neutral court wins over Tennessee and Florida... That doesn't make any sense.
