Ötzi is a man who was discovered in Tyrolean Alps in 1991. Originally believed to be a recently deceased hiker, radiocarbon dating revealed he was actually a man deceased since about 3300 BC....

When hikers stumbled upon his body melting out of the ice along the border of modern day Italy and Austria, authorities initially treated it as a tragic but ordinary alpine death. Only later did radiocarbon testing reveal that Ötzi had been frozen in place for more than 5,000 years.

Preserved by ice, his body offered an unprecedented snapshot of life during the Copper Age. He stood about 5 foot 2, was in his mid 40s, and suffered from arthritis, parasites, and hardened arteries. His clothing was remarkably sophisticated, made from multiple animal hides stitched together for insulation, along with grass lined shoes designed for mountain travel. He carried a copper axe, a rarity at the time, suggesting he held a position of status within his community.

For years, scientists believed Ötzi had simply succumbed to the elements. That theory changed when scans revealed an arrowhead embedded in his shoulder and trauma to his head. Evidence now strongly suggests he was violently killed, possibly ambushed while fleeing through the mountains. His final moments remain unknown, but the ice preserved his story long enough for modern science to uncover it millennia later.

Ötzi’s body bears over 60 tattoos, making them the oldest known therapeutic tattoos in the world, many of which align closely with acupuncture points used to treat joint pain.

Macheso is his early days with Orchestra Mberikwazvo recorded a song called Mwana wamai vangu. If I am not mistaken. It’s found on his first album of 1998 and his 2001 album Zvakanaka zvakadaro.

Khiama Boys recorded an album Kubva Kure in 1990. On it was a song called Mwana wamai vangu.

A decade later, Macheso lifted key parts of the song, including the title, melody and rhythm. Of course he was part of the earlier project.
