BREAKING: Iran assures the Philippines that it will allow Philippine-bound and Philippine-flagged ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Department of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement Thursday, April 2, that Foreign Affairs Secretary Theresa Lazaro spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi today to discuss "stronger bilateral cooperation on all fronts."

"During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister assured the Secretary that Iran will allow the safe, unhindered, and expeditious passage through the Strait of Hormuz of Philippine-flagged vessels, energy sources, and all Filipino seafarers," the DFA says. | via @chicristina_

ARREST WARRANTS VS. LAWMAKERS, OFFICIALS OVER FLOOD CONTROL MESS OUT BY DEC. 15 — REMULLA

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said arrest warrants against lawmakers and government officials implicated in alleged anomalous flood control projects are expected to be issued on December 15.

In an interview with Christian Esguerra on Facts First PH aired November 16, Remulla said former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo had already signed his affidavit identifying several officials allegedly involved.

Among those expected to receive arrest warrants are Senators Chiz Escudero, Jinggoy Estrada, and Joel Villanueva, as well as former senators Nancy Binay and Bong Revilla. He added that Senators Sonny Angara and Grace Poe are also under investigation.

Remulla noted that although many of the personalities named are his friends, he remains bound by his mandate.

The Ombudsman said the warrants could be issued as early as December 15 or 16, depending on the final calendar.

He also confirmed to Esguerra that Special Envoy Maynard Ngu is included in the list, alongside several congressmen whose cases are being finalized.

Remulla said the Office of the Ombudsman will file serious, non-bailable charges, including malversation of public funds, against those found liable for alleged corruption in flood control projects.

He added that former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co and more than 20 House members will also face charges.

Remulla further disclosed that investigations are ongoing involving former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and former DPWH Secretary Sen. Mark Villar.

While evidence against Villar pertains to an alleged general kickback scheme, Remulla said the case "is harder to prove" and will require establishing patterns across DPWH projects.
