Sadly, this isn't the first time a Liberal prime minister has shown contempt for Parliament.
It looks bad on Mark Carney to sideline the parliamentary process, and it looks even worse when he treats his own MPs as little more than spectators.
Liberal prime ministers seem to have a recurring habit of showing contempt for parliamentary democracy.
"The opposition … do not have to govern, they have only to talk. The best place in which to talk, if they want a forum, is, of course, Parliament. When they get home, when they get out of Parliament, when they are 50 yards from Parliament Hill, they are no longer honourable members – they are just nobodies, Mr. Speaker."
Pierre Elliott Trudeau, 1969
#BREAKING: In yet another hot mic incident, Mark Carney is caught insulting HIS OWN MPs, telling the visiting Croatian prime minister Andrej Plenkovic that they're just "useful for votes."
He then makes another comment about his cabinet ministers, but the comments from the Croatian prime minister he was responding to is inaudible, so the context is difficult to make out.
Regardless, it shows yet more contempt that Carney has for Canada's representative democracy. He'd like to have all the power in his own hands.
Happy Father's Day.
The future isn't built in Parliament alone. It's built around dinner tables, driveways, hockey rinks, and the everyday moments where fathers lead by example.
Here's to the dads who show up, make sacrifices, and help shape the next generation.
Happy Father's Day.
Thousands of lives will be saved because we forced Liberals to back down from MAID for mental illness.
Conservative MP @TamaraJansenMP’s Bill C-218, plus the brilliant arguments by MP @MichaelCooperMP and the courageous personal story of MP @AndrewLawton, changed the debate and stopped government from telling struggling people to give up on life.
Keep the hope alive. Keep the fight alive.
The list of Liberal boondoggles keeps getting longer:
-$90 billion for Alto
- $756 million for Liberal gun grab
- $250 million on a "launch pad" gravel pit
- $20 billion on government consultants
And they say they don't have enough money to cut taxes for middle class Canadians!
Politicians should NOT be treating used cars as their cash cows.
MP @AndrewLawton introduced a bill to remove federal sales tax from used cars.
This would make life more affordable and stop double taxation.
All MPs should support Lawton’s bill!
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
This summer, my husband and I are excited to welcome our daughter into the world.
As the House rises for the summer, I will be taking some time to be with my growing family. In the meantime, my constituency office team will continue to assist residents of Newmarket–Aurora with any federal matters.
Thank you for your continued support and well wishes as we prepare for this very special chapter in our lives.
Canada’s March to the Match continues to work its way through the Toronto streets toward the stadiums.
Beautiful scenes as fans chant and cheer and high five fans who are lining the streets.
It’s going to be electric inside the stadium today.
The Liberals broke population planning.
Canadians are already paying for this mess.
The consequences on pensions, taxes, and promised benefits will only grow.
I'm glad the Government of Canada took the time to acknowledge National Iced Tea Day on its social media channels. It's reassuring to know some priorities are being addressed.
Staying cool under pressure is part of the job.
Happy National Iced Tea Day to everyone keeping Canada secure, one calm, collected sip at a time.
Strong brews. Stronger defenses.
@Anthony__Koch Another reason conservatives still talk about him he was one of only five Conservative prime ministers in a century the Liberals essentially owned.
John Diefenbaker still resonates because he believed in a “One Canada” a country where anyone, anywhere, could rise on equal footing.
He was also a cultural and political outsider in an era when that mattered, and that mix of vision and outsider perspective still connects today.
🇨🇦 First Canadian to fly around the Moon 🚀
Honoured to speak with true Canadian hero 🧑🏻🚀 @Astro_Jeremy today in Ottawa.
Check out what Jeremy had to say👇

For your weekend viewing, here's an assortment of highlights from Diefenbaker's speeches over the years:
"I'm going to make an appeal to you and your conscience. To your Canada and my Canada, Confederation and the rights of Canadians whether of the parent, races or otherwise, must not be placed on the auction block for political gain"
"No leader, no man whatever his dedication to his country and his party may be, can ever march forward facing the fold if afraid if there's somebody behind him who's going to interfere directly into it"
"I will not if chosen as the leader, offer something for nothing, but I will require of you my fellow Canadians today, all the energy, the faith and ambition that the Canadians of yesterday gave to the foundation of Canada"
"I want to know where I stand. I want to know, I want to know where you stand too. That's what I want to know"
"I have nothing to withdraw in my desire to see Canada one country, one nation, my country and yours"
"There is one thing that will bind the hearts of Canadians to join with us. Because after all without regard to party every man and woman has in his or her heart the love of country"
"From the bottom of my heart I thank you for having given me the opportunity to serve in my day and generation"
On June 6, 1944, 14,000 Canadian heroes stormed Juno Beach to help liberate Europe from Nazi tyranny.
They faced impossible odds, knowing many would never return home. Their courage helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.
At a time when some choose to rewrite history or ignore it, we remember the sacrifice that preserved freedom.
Canada must never forget.
There's been a lot of talk about a technical recession this week,
But it's not a technical recession for those Canadians who are suffering from the brunt of the highest food inflation in the G7.
Too many Canadians are hanging on by a thread, going into debt just to pay for food and rent.
