You can like this movie, but its not Homer's Odyssey.

A lot of people were expecting/hoping this was true adaptation of Homers Odyssey. If he did what The Norsman did in 2022, a retelling of Hamlet but not calling it hamlet, this wouldnt be an issue.

I think he should have went full modern with a different title than "the odyssey"

And you should really read the Iliad first. its the first book in Homer's epic poem. The Odyssey is part 2.

If you want the best read which is closer to the original Greek, read the Robert Fagles translation.

For the literal translation, read the Richmond Lattimore translation.

Avoid the Emily Wilson translation. Its not accurate.

This movie doesn't respect either in my opinion. From the dialog to armor, it doesnt care for authenticity at all.
