@psycogenicFugue@BygTomato completely disagree. if the game was entirely split into two halves, that would feel jarring as hell on a full playthrough. the game has 3 fun silly adventures and then abruptly tone-shifts into complete seriousness until the end? you need a breather before the climax
@psycogenicFugue honestly (and this isn’t me trying to attack you specifically) i think most of the hate for ch 5 comes down to people not vibing with flowery or the flowers, having that ruin the experience, and then retroactively coming up with a more “objective” reason for why the chapter sucks
@DaiRyuTheKing “when the buzzword buzzword is buzzword buzzword 😂 i am very smart”
also who said anything about mental illness, i don’t know anything about this guy or his mental state, im just replying to his stupid ass tweet
regardless of your personal opinion on ch 5, can we agree that people like this guy are kind of… insane?
it’s part of this growing trend i see towards beloved indie creators where people have this simmering hatred towards them while simultaneously holding them to an impossible-
Fuck Deltarune, fuck its fans, and fuck Toby Fox and his dumbass "vision" lmao.
I'm gonna return to art again and try to seriously make an effort to improve, and when I finally can afford a new PC...
I will make my own game like I planned finally, and it will be FAR better.
@ceyarma_ well, hold on. if you’re not judging by the per-chapter gimmicks, then why is your main reason for ch 3 being so low “i found the boards miserable”? that complaint doesn’t really make sense at all for a writing tier list in the first place
@ceyarma_@MPorkcho44272 ch 1 has strong character stuff, it’s not bad, it’s genuinely just that it’s so fucking boring on a replay man. because the gameplay is just like, not refined yet, it’s not what it would become in later chapters and it’s weird to me that toby hasn’t gone back and touched it up
@user17386704 he’s… in the shelter. they know he’s in the shelter, they know that’s where the knight takes people they kidnap. they know there’s nothing they can do.
you’re actually illiterate if this is a real complaint you have
@NyxTheShield@Chepatard@jordanvader02 and i think it’s silly to discount one of the main focuses of this chapter just by virtue of it BEING character development. yes, the characters develop in every chapter, but this chapter contained the most meaningful development for a member of the gang since arguably chapter 1
and i’m NOT saying this is all ch 5 haters. i’ve been defending that chapter a lot recently but i understand some people just don’t like it, even if i think most of the complaints are silly at best.
this is a very SPECIFIC type of person im pointing out.
so great after all!”
i think it’s a jealousy thing since it’s usually other “creatives” i see doing it. it’s like people can’t handle creators getting praise for their work and are just WAITING for the star to dim slightly so they can claim they knew they sucked from the start
@NyxTheShield@Chepatard@jordanvader02 it’s one thing to say it’s expected, it’s another to completely discount it’s importance and say that it basically doesn’t matter because of that
@skittybitty_yt@DreamBoyCentral yes sorry that was phrased badly, but i feel like it’s not too hard to parse my meaning. if you’re trying to critically examine a story, i feel like it’s kind of weird to factor in the outside factors of the story’s release when discussing the internal execution of said story
@goldensflowers idk why you think i’m “fucking furious”, i haven’t said anything antagonistic or rude towards you. i’m just saying i think the notion that “the story didn’t progress” is pretty blatantly false if you look at what happened this chapter, and can only come from specific expectations
@goldensflowers well when you post blatantly incorrect things like “this chapter didn’t have story progression” it makes you seem like one of the people that’s mad that the story didn’t progress in exactly the way you wanted. the story progressed, just at a slower pace than ch 4, which is fine
@skellez101l@skittybitty_yt@DreamBoyCentral neither here nor there to me. sure, someone else probably could have made it faster, but there’s been other similar games that have taken longer to make. i don’t think him releasing it in chunks is making it take longer, it just makes you more aware of the time it’s taking
@skellez101l@skittybitty_yt@DreamBoyCentral i know he didn’t intend to make it like this, that’s what i’m saying. you can look at each chapter in a vacuum because they release separately, but the pacing makes a lot more sense when you look at everything as a coherent experience.
toby’s “competence as a game director” is-
@user17386704 oh my god it’s 4 fucking lines. it takes 20 seconds to click through. “fantastically bad writing” is something that ruins the chapter, not a 4 line clunky delivery of exposition. this is genuinely the biggest nitpick of ch 5 so far (and that’s saying something lmfao)
