BTS visited Mex Palace through an invitation from Mex, arranged with HYBE LATAM as it expands across Latin America. SKZ were arranged by the SK gov as part of its continued use of K-pop as soft power — and were met with 6 people in the plaza.
SK still hasn’t accepted that K-pop’s global stagnation is partly because it was never simply “K-pop” driving that level of demand. It was BTS.
Companies can’t manufacture another BTS through Big 3 privilege, propaganda, visuals and branding while treating talent and music like an afterthought. Either the industry seriously reevaluates what it’s producing and promoting, go back to focus on TALENT and not face card, name and family money, or these embarrassing attempts to replicate BTS’ global pull will keep happening, and their soft power will become a joke....

It’s high time for K-pop groups to find their own identity, build their own legacy, and set goals of their own instead of constantly trying to replicate what BTS has achieved.
