Some of us speak only after thorough due diligence. There is hardly any functional data harmonization across institutions due to ego-driven competition for budgetary allocations. This is why security operatives struggle to share intelligence and information, a harmful (cultural) practice.

Political hirelings hide information from their bosses, believing recommendations threaten their jobs. Our problems are mostly self-inflicted; we should stop shaming ourselves and prolonging the imbroglio with lame defenses of the indefensible.

If you have ever been to China, you know what a harmonious data and identity management system means. Everything and everyone is monitored systematically. You cannot catch the system by surprise. This is global best practice, unlike our vulnerable situation where people circumvent the system even before policies are implemented.

Before you argue with experts, ask yourself about the level of adoption. Across sectors, informality outweighs what is formally controlled, from land ownership and banking to critical markets. So this is not about any individual but a drive to fix the gap in our system, even if we have to hit a nerve.

I doubt if we are ready for mature conversation if we can’t even stand the truth. This is why we will always have problems with transformational leaders while we praise liars who kick the can down the road. 🚔
