What is #ERC20721? 🤔

A contract must adhere to specific methods, events, and logical guidelines to be recognized as part of a standard.

The pertinent standards in question here are #EIP20 (ERC-20) and #EIP721 (ERC-721).

While both standards share certain similarities, #ERC20 primarily caters to fungible tokens, where all units are interchangeable (like money)

#ERC721 is designed for #NFTs, where each unit is unique (like collectible trading cards).

#CellMates appears to be pioneering the strict integration of these two standards, distinguishing itself from previous attempts such as #ERC404.

Unlike ERC-404, which deviates from the specifications of both standards by compromising on certain aspects, #CellMates aims to harmoniously combine ERC-20 and ERC-721 without prioritizing one over the other.

For instance, ERC404's representation of total supply/user balance in terms of 1e18 aligns with token standards but not with the concept of non-fungible tokens due to its excessively large supply/balance.

Features of ERC-20721:
🟡Traits persist unaltered during transfer events, ensuring 100% on-chain immutability for NFTs
🟡Adheres strictly to ERC20 and ERC721 standards
🟡Facilitates gas-efficient transfers

The @CellMatesERC team is highly active and operates primarily through Discord. Presently, they are strategizing the launch of a Launchpad aimed at assisting projects interested in utilizing #ERC20721.

Overall, ERC20721 functions as an NFT (ERC721) with the capability of being transferred and traded akin to an ERC20 token. However, due to its nature as an NFT, it can only be exchanged as a complete unit. To facilitate the exchange of fractions, a wrapped token is necessary.

ERC20721 represents another experimental standard designed to address the primary shortcomings raised by ERC404.
